Swimming Lessons Part II

Kate did swimming lessons this week with two other kids: Jonny, one of her best friends from school and the son of a teacher friend of mine, and Curtis, one of the neighbor kids. Since she was the only girl in the class, I am glad she accomplished all the goals for the week. She went underwater all by herself, she jumped from the edge of the pool by herself, and she even went off the diving board, as evidenced by the video I posted a couple of days ago. I am so glad she is a water baby - and that she proves girls can do just as much as boys can!

Sometimes, though, a girl still needs her grandpa to come and cheer her on and dry her off after lessons are over.

Swimming Lessons

Kate took swimming lessons this week with a favorite neighbor and friend, Kristen. She's also a favorite baby-sitter, and we can now add awesome swim instructor to the list. Just look at what she got Kate to do - at two years old! I am pretty sure Greg wouldn't jump off the diving board now, let alone when he was only two!

Busted by Mom

As I was frantically loading the dishwasher the other day, I, admittedly, wasn't paying as much attention to what the kids were doing as what I should have. Umm, this is what I found when I glanced into the pantry. Kate was playing with some old plastic cups, and James crawled in behind her to see what she was doing. He found the three-pound sack of potatoes, which was a pretty interesting toy for him. If you look closely at their faces, they totally know they are playing where they shouldn't! Busted!

Crawling vs. Scooting

This is the kind of "crawling" we used to see around our house:

And here is James, crawling with all his speed toward mom:

James has been crawling around the house for about three weeks now. Before he really got good - and a little too fast for my liking - Kate would get down on the ground and try to show him how its done. That is hilarious to both me and Greg, because Kate has never crawled. Ever. Seriously. It was something that worried me for awhile, since she didn't even start walking until she was 15 months old. Now, with James, he has given us the opposite experience, and I think its because he is just a little too interested in what big sister is up to.
