Settling In

These past few days have been all about adjustment. For all of us. We have settled in to a routine that is, hopefully, going to stick for awhile. I get up with James during the night, and Greg takes Kate when she wakes up between 6 and 7, giving me a chance to sleep for a bit longer before James's next feeding. Kate continues to love on him, and she is constantly walking around the house saying, "Baby!" She is doing great with this new situation, and I think it helps that she still receives a ton of attention from everyone! For now, things are good, and with the exception of too little sleep, we have no complaints. James is a wonderful baby, and we couldn't be happier!

Welcome to the Family, James!

James Philip Uebinger was born on Friday, October 21 at 2:58 pm. He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 21 inches long. We were very surprised to see that he has reddish blond hair, instead of being totally dark like Kate was. I hope he keeps this coloring, and the redhead attitude that goes with it. Greg is unsure of keeping the attitude, but he loves James's hair color. So far, big sister Kate has adjusted well, considering her world has been rocked to the core. She will kiss and pet baby James, and she becomes upset when he cries. It's cute to see her care so much for him already. That isn't to say she has been perfect. Last night, two stuffed animals were hurled in James's direction. She is alternately interested and indifferent, so we will see how this goes. James has been a great baby so far. He earned the nickname "chowhound" from the pediatrics nurses in the hospital; this is a name Greg and I are still laughing about. Now that we are home and settled, it seems crazy that we have two kids. Two kids! Are we ready for this?

Time on the Farm

Greg's parents have an awesome farm about 40 minutes away from us in Effingham. Kate absolutely loves going down there to play, run around, and generally cause trouble and chaos. Who would have ever thought I would be raising a farm girl? Granted, she probably has more tractor knowledge than I do, but I am learning. A little bit. This past weekend, most of the family was able to get together and enjoy the beautiful weather. We spent a lot of time outside and had tons of fun. As you can see, Kate loves it so much, she may just move in with Grandma and Grandpa Uebinger pretty soon. I bet they could use her help!

By the way, this will be the last blog post with just Kate as the focus. Baby Boy Uebinger makes his arrival in just two short days! We are so excited to meet him, and we can't wait to see Kate as a big sister. Expect some changes to the blog and many more pictures to come!

Good job, Dad. I love this story!

I am having so much fun right now!

I love snuggling in to Dad after a long, hard day of playing and running around.
