Fancy Night Out

Last weekend, Greg and I left the kiddos overnight with my mom and dad and headed down to St. Louis with some friends for dinner and a show at the Fox Theatre. I was nervous about leaving James for the whole night, since he generally gets up at least once during the night, but he ended up sleeping all the way until the following morning! Meanwhile, Greg and I had a great time with our friends, and we stayed out until the a.m.! The two of us actually made it until 8:00 a.m. the next morning before we were calling my parents, letting them know we were on our way to come pick up the kids. Baby steps, right?

Bye Bye, Christmas!

During the Christmas season, our house looked like this:

Greg did a fantastic job hanging our lights on the house. The first week of January, sadly, we had to take them down. I am pretty sure Katie wanted them up forever, but there has to be a rule somewhere in our Homeowner's Association Manual that outlaws year-round lights. So down they went. Greg went out in his coveralls to take care of the chore, and Kate was the best, er, helper you have ever seen. She only blindly took off running down the driveway a couple of times. She was able to hold a bag or two for dad and she also gleefully wore her own coveralls. She followed her dad around and listened to his instructions - most of the time.

Here the kids are getting ready to go to Grandma and Grandpa Gobczynski's house. James is totally relaxed, as usual. Kate, however, was eager to show off her stylish shades and hat. What a cheeser!

Say Cheese!

The other day, I was busy getting a few snapshots of James being especially cute and smiley. Well, big sister happened to wander into his room and she really didn't like him getting all the attention. She immediately grabbed a hold of my pants and started tugging on them insistently while saying, "Cheese!" The girl knows her audience; of course, I obliged! That's why you get a few pictures of James, with a sprinkling of Kate pictures here and there. That kid is hilarious; I swear if I would have let her climb into the crib with him to get some more pictures, she would have!
